5 Activities to do this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is typically a day for children and spouses to show their appreciation towards their mothers, but who’s to say that you cannot do it yourself? This Mother’s Day, we are calling all mothers to pamper and treat themselves! And although Singapore’s COVID-19 restrictions are getting stricter, there are still many things you could do to celebrate Mother’s Day!

Here are 5 activities you can do to unwind

  1. Leave the cooking or cleaning to someone else

Cooking has always typically been a mother’s duty but you could take a breather and pass the responsibility to another member of the family! You could recruit your spouse or your kids (if you have older kids) to be the chef of the day and ask them to whip up something that you have been dreaming of. Or if you have been thinking of trying out a specific dish, feel free to order in and really treat yourself. You could also head out to dine in at a nice restaurant but do remember to keep below the 5 person limit!

  1. Get yourself all glowed up

When was the last time you got your hair done? Or your nails? Maybe you wished your skin was looking a little brighter? This is the time to schedule all your appointments for your hair, a facial, a mani-pedi, or all three! Though these treatments only work on the outside, taking time out of your day just to prioritise yourself can be really relaxing too. And it does not hurt to look and feel more confident! But if you are on a tighter budget or you wish to avoid the public to be safe, you could also treat yourself at home. There are plenty of at-home kits to do your own nails, put in a hair mask and a face mask too!

  1. Schedule a movie night at home

This may seem like a simple thing to do, but how often have you rewatched the same movie over and over again because your child wanted to? It is time to pick out what you want to watch instead! When your child is in bed, pick out some of your favourite snacks, get comfortable and pick out a movie you have been wanting to watch. You could even start a movie marathon or go through an entire k-drama series! Whether you are a rom-com, thriller or comedy type of mum, there will always be something out there for you.

  1. Hang out with your friends

Some mothers prefer to spend Mother’s Day celebrating with their families but do not feel guilty about taking a couple of hours out of the day to spend with your friends too! You could meet with friends for a picnic just to catch up, or just laze around by the beach together. It can be refreshing to put your motherly duties to the side for a while and catch up on old times. Just remember to stay safe and keep celebration numbers below 5.

  1. Treat your body well

As mothers, it is routine to constantly put our children first, especially their health. So, this Mother’s Day, you should take time to prioritise your mental and physical health with yoga. If the thought of a yoga class scares you, do not worry! There are plenty of beginner classes that are straightforward with no complicated moves or equipment and the instructors will always be there to help you out. Due to Singapore’s current restrictions, only outdoor yoga classes are available but you could opt for a simple YouTube yoga instructional video too!

We hope you take some time out this Mother’s Day to truly prioritise and pamper yourself by doing an activity listed above. But if there are other activities you have been dreaming of that we did not mention, we urge you to take time out to do it! After all, you have worked immensely hard to take care of your family and you deserve it.

To all mothers, thank you for your strength, resilience and love. And to give you a small treat this Mother’s Day, we have a $20 Kiddy Palace Voucher up for grabs! Treat yourself to some fun Kiddy Palace shopping with your little ones. We hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
